If you’re like us, creating a unique and personalized party ambiance is what keeps you up at night. Visions of gorgeously-calligraphed seating charts along with matching bar menus flash through your mind as your head hits the pillow…with dreams of flowing champagne towers and flower grandmas (yes, grandmas) to follow. With platforms like Etsy, Canva, and the holy grail – Pinterest (all hail!) there are so many ways to make your wedding just that – all yours. But with so many ideas and trends floating around, it becomes easy to get overwhelmed or carried away with the D** word (that’s for DIY *shudder*). Our opinion on how to make your wedding memorable? Glad you asked! Focus on having one WOW factor that sets your wedding apart from the rest, and gets guests talking to each other.
Including something extraordinary is what makes your event stand out from all of the other weddings that your guests have been to in the past. By focusing on one fun and unique item/service, you save yourself the stress (and extra money) of trying to incorporate all of the latest trends.
But, do as we say, not as we do!! We are guilty of doing THE MOST when it comes to the fun little details – so if you have the time, attention to detail, and budget, go ahead and consider any and all of our current fave trends for your special day:

Looking for something to set the tone for your celebration? Look no further, After the Tone is here to encapsulate your loved ones words for you via their super cute audio guestbooks. They provide an adorable vintage phone which works as a tape recorder for your guests to leave some love for the newlyweds. Imagine sitting down with your partner and listening to recordings from all of your favorite people from your wedding day? If you’re a sappy hopeless romantic like we are, this is absolutely the guest book for you. The voice recording option gives your guests a chance to leave a heartfelt message without having to frantically write something sweet in your guestbook before the ceremony starts. The only con is that you’ll have to explain to the Gen Z guests how to use a corded phone, closely followed by realizing that your back hurts and that you can’t find your reading glasses 😉

This past spring, our local couple Danielle + Jon had the idea to use potted plants for their centerpieces and they couldn’t have disappeared from the tables quicker during the last call! Guests were thrilled to be able to take home floral pieces that would live-on past the standard week shelf-life for traditional floral centerpieces (and we were excited that we wouldn’t have to find homes for them either LOL). Each table had alternating potted Phalaenopsis Orchids, Calatheas, and Peacock Plants provided by one of our fave nurseries, Plant Hawaii. If you and your partner are plant-lovers and either live locally or have family/friends that do, this is a great option for your design AND wallet.

Want to zhuzh up your cocktail game? Consider adding Cocktail Graffiti’s custom edible drink toppers to your list of wedding must-haves. You can either choose one of their designs, or go with your very own custom logo (for all of our design-loving peeps). We recommend ordering at least enough for everyone’s first drink, that way all guests get to experience the novelty of the topper together. We can’t think of a more easy, buzz-worthy, Instagrammable way to start your event off!

Did you know that wedding guests generally LOVE being told what to do? (besides your aunt Karen, but we’ll handle her). But seriously – one of the things that many of our couples said that they disliked about weddings they had attended in the past was “not enough guidance on where to be, what to do, or what to wear.” Including a suggested color palette along with the level of formal-ness appropriate for guest attire on your wedding website is a great way to make sure your photos come out as dreamy as the day feels. Plus, when people look good, they feel good, and it heightens the vibe x 1000. Take it from Crystal + Francis, who decided on an all-white theme for their summer celebration at a private nature reserve on O`ahu.

We know what you’re thinking… Why can’t I just buy these at the grocery store? Well, it’s SUPER hard to find disposable cameras these days, and it’s even harder to find a place that develops them (not to mention the 3 + week turnaround time). Our friends over at Cheecam know that you don’t have the time for one more pre AND post-wedding task (let’s be real, it’s hard to do anything productive with a Mai Tai in hand), so they’ve made it simple for you! They provide a full-service film package where they mail you a bundle of aesthetically pleasing disposable cameras for you and your guests to capture all of the behind-the-scenes moments of your big day. The best part? They ship straight to you (or your wedding planner) and include return shipping labels, so that after the wedding, they are easily sent to the post office, developed in their lab, and digitals delivered to your phone before you make it back from your honeymoon! They offer Tropical Moon couples 10% off their package, so be sure to let them know where you found them.
