When anyone on island hears that combination of words put together, beauty comes to mind!
The majesty of Sunset Ranch is a true embodiment of the energy Hawai’i is known for. Although beauty may be your first impression of this sacred land, there is a powerful mo’olelo (story) that speaks to the mana (energy) of this place.
“At Sunset Ranch, part of our mission of “helping advance land conservation and self-sustainability” involves improving our understanding of the aina (land).”

Sunset Ranch happens to be located within the land surrounding one of ‘Oahu’s most important cultural sites, Pu’u O Mahuka. Pu’u O Mahuka (Hill of Escape): Oahu’s largest heiau (important religious site or temple) has a history that dates back to the 1600’s.
The heiau was likely constructed by the Hawaiians in the 1600’s, and covers approximately two acres. During the ‘pre-contact period’, or before Captain Cook’s arrival to the islands. Given the location of Pu’u O Mahuka, historians believe that it’s parcel of land was often used by Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians) living in Waimea Valley to communicate with Hawaiians at a heiau in Wailua on Kauai. Communication would have been via extremely large signal fires. As well as, utilized in ceremonial practices. Spaces like Pu’u O Mahuka, invite all Malihini (visitors) to embrace to revereance, recognition, & respect that these deeply sacred sites deserve.
Fortunatley the caretakers of Sunset Ranch have succeeded in their pursuit of obtaining one of Hawai’i’s first private consercation easments, which result in Sunset Ranch’s property remaining protected and preserved forever. Their hope is obtain these same rights for Pu’u O Mahuka as well.
Our Tropical Moon ‘Ohana finds a deep appreciation in all of the abundance that surrounds Sunset Ranch. This venue is a thirty acre land base that is home to a horse ranch, avocado and citrus farm, aquaculture site and botanical garden. Tropical Moon couples have also been drawn to this wedding venue due to their incomparable kai (ocean) and mauna (mountain) views.
“There is a sense of elegance that comes with the venue that is rustic, tropical, and chic all at the same time! But the palpable spirit that lives within this ‘Aina is what draws us all into a space of true aloha.”
